If you travel a long distance and will need the assistance of someone to care for you post-operatively, there is a local temporary living center that can assist with your care. Many of your patients are referred to this facility or for local lodging needs.
TLC (Temporary Living Center)
What is the Temporary Living Center (TLC)?
The TLC at Legacy Meridian is a "home away from home" for people who need a caring environment for brief periods of time because of age, infirmity, physical disability or social dependency, but who do not require acute nursing care or continuous medical supervision.
Who uses the TLC?
Referral by a physician is not required to access TLC services. The TLC is intended for use by:
• Pre-and post-surgical patients who need some supervision.
• Individuals traveling to the hospital over long distances for outpatient services.
• Families of hospitalized patients who do not wish to leave the hospital or who should not be alone.
• People whose care-givers are in need of respite from their responsibilities.
• Patients recently discharged from a healthcare facility who cannot or do not wish to be alone.
What is the cost?
Two levels of reservations or guest accommodations are available:
• Full Service: $219 per day. Includes a private room with a bath, telephone and television, as well as all meals and assistance with personal care and medication administration. A weekly fee of $44 will be assessed on the day of admission and weekly thereafter for supplies.
• Hotel Service: $95 per day. Includes a private room with a bath, telephone and television for entirely independent individuals. Meals may be purchased in the hospital dining room.
Who pays for the care?
TLC's charges for accommodations and supplies are usually not eligible for insurance reimbursement, with the exception of some long term care nursing insurance policies. Fees are payable at the time of discharge from the TLC. Major credit cards are accepted.
